Newham Park Murder: Culprit, Javid Ahmadzai Receives A Life Sentence For Fatally Stabbing A Man To Death Over £10

A man has been sentenced to prison for the murder of a 20-year-old man in a park in Newham. The sentence came after six-years of investigation by the Metropolitan Police homicide detectives.

Javid Ahmadzai, aged 28, was found guilty of murder and violent disorder after a trial at the Old Bailey on August 1st.

On August 10th, he received a life sentence for murder, with a minimum of 24 years to be served. A concurrent three-year sentence was given for violent disorder.

During the trial, it was revealed that Ahmadzai attacked Moosakhan Naseri in Plashet Park, East Ham, on October 15, 2017. He attacked him over a drug dispute of £10.

Moosakhan suffered a fatal stab wound to his chest, despite the efforts of emergency services to save his life.

Ahmadzai fled the country shortly after the attack, but he was apprehended in France and extradited to the UK on June 21 of the previous year.

Homicide detectives established Ahmadzai's connection to the murder through eyewitness statements. Also phone records obtained by authorities placed him at the crime scene at the time of the crime.

Detective Chief Inspector Mark Rogers, the lead investigator, remarked, "The violent incident that led to Moosakhan's death, stemming from a dispute over a £10 drug debt, was shocking to bystanders in the park that day. Our investigation was supported by those who came forward with information, and it is a tragedy that Moosakhan, an Afghan national seeking safety after fleeing the Taliban, lost his life in the UK."
