Rapper Tekashi 6ix9ine Arrested in Florida After He Failed To Appear In Court For A Pending Case

Rapper Tekashi 6ix9ine got arrested on Wednesday in Palm Beach County, Florida, due to a traffic violation, as stated by authorities.

Tekashi 6ix9ine, whose real name is Daniel Hernandez, was taken into custody for not showing up in court, as indicated in online jail records.

He was released on bail just after midnight on Thursday.

His lawyer couldn't be reached immediately for a comment.

Deputies were engaged in traffic enforcement "when they spotted a vehicle committing a moving traffic violation," said the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office in a statement. They also noticed that the vehicle lacked a license plate.

The driver was pulled over and identified himself as the rapper.

The sheriff's office mentioned that he had a suspended driver's license and an active traffic warrant for failing to appear in court on July 12.

The court date was related to an incident in June where he was booked for speeding, lacking proof of insurance, and driving an unregistered vehicle.

Tekashi 6ix9ine was taken to the county jail with no additional charges. He received traffic citations for the incident on Wednesday.

His arrest comes months after he was assaulted at a South Florida gym, which led to his hospitalization.

According to his attorney, he was in the sauna when three or four individuals approached him and physically attacked him.

Tekashi 6ix9ine tried to defend himself, as per his attorney's statement.

A video of the altercation was shared on social media, showing him with blood on his face while walking through the gym.

In March, three people were arrested for allegedly assaulting and robbing him.

In 2019, Tekashi 6ix9ine was sentenced to a reduced two years in federal prison after pleading guilty to various charges, including racketeering, firearms offenses, and drug trafficking.

He could have faced 47 years in prison, but prosecutors recommended a shorter sentence after he cooperated with authorities to bring down two leaders of a violent New York gang.

He was released early the following year.
