Philadelphia experienced a distressing weekend as gun violence escalated in the city. The multiple shootings resulted in 11 people getting injured, and one young man tragically losing his life.
The shootings occurred late Friday night into Sunday, with five of them unfolding in just a few hours.
The first incident took place around 9:30 p.m. on Friday, leaving a 23-year-old man with a foot injury on the 5700 block of Frankford Avenue.
Less than an hour later, a 31-year-old man was shot in the arm on the 400 block of West Lehigh Avenue.
In a terrifying turn of events, an 80-year-old man became a shooting victim while standing in his own kitchen. A bullet entered his window on the 1800 block of North Woodstock Street, resulting in a graze wound to his leg.
Saturday morning witnessed a double shooting, with two 25-year-olds injured on the 5900 block of North 5th Street. Around the same time, a 19-year-old arrived at a local hospital with a gunshot wound to the leg.
Later, a 17-year-old boy was shot in the leg on the streets of Kensington.
On Sunday, a double shooting took place inside an unregistered club, leaving two 25-year-old men with gunshot wounds to their legs and a woman detained by the police.
Another incident occurred on Sunday afternoon around 4 o'clock, where a 48-year-old man was shot in his leg and foot in East Germantown.
Currently, 10 of the victims are in stable condition, but sadly, the life of the 19-year-old man couldn't be saved.
The police have not made any arrests in connection with these shootings, and no weapons have been recovered yet.
