A California woman's mysterious disappearance during a road trip with her pet bearded dragon has raised concerns. Chelsea Grimm, aged 32, was last spotted camping in her car near Ashfork, Arizona on September 30.
Her parents reported her missing on October 4, unable to reach her after she mentioned plans to camp in Arizona, where phone service might be unreliable. Her abandoned car, discovered on October 5 with flat tires, yielded no sign of her or her beloved pet dragon, and her phone and credit card activity ceased.
The family remains optimistic and places their trust in the authorities, as they engage a private investigator to assist in the search for their daughter. The circumstances leading to her disappearance are puzzling, as seen in police bodycam footage from a September 28 encounter in Williams, Arizona.
Chelsea Grimm, a photographer and artist, appeared distressed during the interaction with the officer, explaining that her emotions had overwhelmed her while photographing a war memorial. She had no definite plans for accommodations but was considering camping for the night.
Chelsea's initial plan was to drive cross-country for a wedding in Connecticut, as taking her pet dragon on a plane was not an option. However, her ambitious journey was cut short when she arrived in Arizona, leading her to change her plans and camp in the state before returning to California.
Throughout the past few days when she was last heard from or seen, she appeared emotionally unstable, largely due to relationship issues and fears related to a person she had been dating.
Despite the worrying circumstances, Coconino County Sheriff's Office investigators currently do not suspect foul play, given the locked state of her car and the absence of visible signs of a struggle. Chelsea's family remains hopeful, believing that she may have received assistance when dealing with her flat tires and chose to continue with her camping trip.
