Dallas State Fair Shooting: Three Injured, Suspect Apprehended in Texas State Fair Shooting

During the evening of Saturday, a shooting incident at the State Fair of Texas in Dallas resulted in three individuals sustaining injuries that were not life-threatening, as per the statement provided by Sr. Cpl. Melinda Gutierrez of the Dallas Police Department.

The authorities successfully apprehended a suspect who attempted to flee the scene. The police officers took the suspect into custody along with a firearm that might have been used in the attack.

Specific details about the conditions of the injured victims were not immediately available.

In response to the incident, the evacuation of Dallas' Fair Park, situated southeast of the downtown area, was initiated.

This incident took place on a bustling weekend night, known for drawing in excess of 100,000 fairgoers. The gunfire emerged at approximately 7:45 p.m. in the fair's food court, commonly recognized as the Tower Building due to its distinctive Art Deco characteristic.

According to Gutierrez's briefing during a press conference, the shooting was a result of one individual firing at another, leading to the injury of three people. The circumstances surrounding the other two individuals being hit remained unclear, a matter that investigators will delve into.

Adam Bazaldua, a City Council member, shared on the social media platform X (previously known as Twitter) that the incident arose from a dispute between two individuals who were acquainted with each other.

Organizers of the fair advised individuals outside the fairgrounds to steer clear of the area.

The fair witnessed a record-breaking turnout last year, surpassing 2.5 million attendees during its entire duration. Saturdays and Sundays often saw attendance figures exceeding the 100,000 mark, based on the data provided by the state fair.

The fair was initially scheduled to continue through the upcoming weekend.
