A Florida man's supposed romantic date turned into a harrowing ordeal when he was brutally attacked, robbed, and thrown off a bridge, according to the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office.
The incident began when Natalie Fonseca, 25, initiated contact with the man on Facebook, seeking assistance with food. Initially agreeing to help, the man accompanied her to a taco truck before dropping her back home.
However, the following day, Fonseca proposed a date, leading the man to her residence where he encountered Nafis Reynolds, whom she introduced as her uncle. Together, the trio set off for a supposed cookout at Reynolds's place before embarking on a terrifying journey.
During the drive, both Fonseca and Nafis allegedly assaulted the man, threatening his life before robbing him of his belongings, including his phone, shoes, and money. They then resorted to cutting his throat and callously throwing him into the Escambia River from a bridge.
Despite the heinous act, the man managed to survive by swimming to the riverbank, where he was later discovered by a passing boater. Fortunately, he was rescued and survived the horrific ordeal.
The authorities identified Fonseca and Nafis through surveillance footage and previous records of a domestic dispute, revealing their relationship.
Both were subsequently charged with multiple severe offenses, including attempted murder, armed carjacking, armed robbery, and kidnapping.
Pensacola, the site of this dreadful incident, lies about 200 miles west of Tallahassee.
