Israeli Woman, Mapal Adam, Killed in Tragic Trance Festival Attack by Hamas Gunmen, Even After Pretending To Be Dead

A tragic incident unfolded at a trance music festival near the Gaza Strip border as Hamas gunmen stormed the event, leaving devastation in their wake. Among the victims was a 27-year-old Israeli woman, Mapal Adam, who had hoped to escape harm by pretending to be dead.

Mapal's sister, Ma'ayan Adam, a well-known television host in Israel, shared the heartbreaking news with her 300,000 Instagram followers. According to Ma'ayan, Mapal was killed while seeking refuge under a truck, holding onto her boyfriend, who sustained gunshot wounds to the back but is expected to survive.

"In this serene setting on Saturday afternoon, Mapal, our baby, hid underneath a truck and pretended to be lifeless," wrote Ma'ayan in an Instagram post alongside a photo of her sister's cell phone displaying an image taken from beneath a vehicle. "She held out for hours and didn't move until terrorists executed her," she added.

Ma'ayan expressed the family's profound grief, describing their pain as unimaginable. Mapal had recently moved in with her boyfriend, Roey, and was overjoyed about it.

"Roey was lying beside her as she lay on the ground, suffered gunshot wounds in the back, and survived to tell us how she died in his arms," Ma'ayan shared.

Mapal Adam was one of many young Israelis attending the Tribe of Nova trance music festival near Reim, a kibbutz located just a few miles from the Gaza Strip border. Witnesses recounted how Hamas gunmen overran the concert area in the early hours of Saturday morning.

Raz Gaster, a manager of musical acts who performed at the festival, described the horrifying scene: "Around 6:30 in the morning, we started hearing explosions... It was hundreds of rockets and mortars flying from everywhere and explosions all around us." Security personnel instructed attendees to take cover on the ground with their hands raised. Later, the police ordered them to evacuate quickly due to the rocket attack.

Hamas militants fired into the crowd and sought to take hostages. Israeli emergency services reported recovering at least 260 bodies from the site on Sunday.

As of Monday morning, Israeli authorities reported that over 800 soldiers and civilians had lost their lives in the unexpected Hamas assault launched on Saturday morning. In response, Israeli military operations in Gaza led to the deaths of hundreds of Palestinians, according to local officials.
