A man has found himself behind bars due to allegations of plotting to kidnap and harm popular TV presenter Holly Willoughby. Gavin Plumb, employed as a security officer at a shopping center, faces charges of soliciting someone named David Nelson to carry out murder and incitement for kidnapping. These alleged offenses transpired between October 2nd and 5th in Harlow, Essex. Plumb made his appearance at Chelmsford Magistrates' Court on a recent Friday.
Gavin Plumb, a 36-year-old resident of Potters Field in Harlow, stands accused of orchestrating plans to assemble a "kidnap and restraint kit" while encouraging another individual to travel to Britain and execute these alleged crimes. The intended target of these disturbing accusations is the 42-year-old Holly Willoughby, who has been co-presenting the popular show "This Morning" since 2009.
During his court appearance, Mr. Plumb wore a green T-shirt bearing the slogan "Aged to Perfection." He only spoke to confirm his personal details, including his name, date of birth, address, and place of work. The court learned that Plumb allegedly conspired online with another person, formulating a detailed plan for carrying out the offenses. This co-conspirator was expected to arrive in the UK from the US in the coming week.
This startling revelation followed closely after Holly Willoughby's co-hosts, Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary, expressed their shock and support for her on "This Morning." Alison conveyed their collective sentiments to viewers, offering love and best wishes to Holly and her family. Even Prime Minister Rishi Sunak took a moment to address the matter during his appearance on the show, expressing his sympathies and well-wishes.
Lorraine Kelly, another ITV colleague, addressed the distressing news on her program "Lorraine," acknowledging the gravity of the situation. Detective Superintendent Rob Kirby from Essex Police emphasized the swift and intensive nature of the investigation, with officers and national partners working tirelessly to bring about the charges. Ensuring the safety of any potential victim remains a top priority throughout this ongoing investigation in collaboration with the Metropolitan Police Service.
