Mother, Desiree Castaneda, Pleads Guilty to Allowing 12-Year-Old Daughter's Pregnancy by Adult Named Juan Miranda-Jara

In Tulsa, Oklahoma, a mother recently admitted in court to allowing her 12-year-old daughter to give birth to a child fathered by a 24-year-old man.

Desiree Castaneda, as reported by FOX 23 in Tulsa, entered a guilty plea for charges of child neglect and enabling child sexual abuse, which she was arrested for in March 2022.

The incident unfolded in June 2021 when the young girl arrived at a Tulsa hospital in labor.

According to Tulsa Police spokesman Danny Bean, who spoke to the station in July 2021, the girl and the newborn's father, Juan Miranda-Jara (who was 24 years old at the time), appeared at the hospital as any expectant couple would, seemingly excited about the birth.

Hospital staff immediately called 911, and Miranda-Jara was subsequently arrested and charged with first-degree rape.

When officers arrived, Miranda-Jara was allegedly boasting about becoming a father through a child giving birth, and he claimed to have the family's approval, asserting that he was in a loving relationship with their daughter.

Miranda-Jara's arrest for rape came as a surprise because Castaneda had reportedly supported the relationship and had even organized a baby shower in anticipation of the newborn's arrival.

Police disclosed that Miranda-Jara had initially been in a relationship with Castaneda, but when their relationship soured, she allegedly permitted him to start dating her daughter.

Miranda-Jara was convicted of first-degree rape in March 2022 and received a 20-year prison sentence, with eligibility for parole after serving 17 years.

He is also required to register as a sex offender.

Castaneda, after pleading guilty to child neglect and enabling child abuse, was sentenced to 15 years in prison. Upon completing her sentence, she will be obligated to register as a sex offender.
