Outraged 65-Year-Old Survivor Lashes Out at NYC Authorities as Repeat Offender, Sabir Jones, Strikes Again

A woman in New York, aged 65, revealed that she was assaulted twice by a man, suspected to be Sabir Jones, who allegedly shoved another woman into a moving subway train on Fifth Avenue. The first attack, which occurred in July at the Grand Central Station, barely received any attention until the recent subway incident.

The victim emphasized that if authorities had taken her case seriously, the subsequent attack might have been prevented.

The July victim, requesting anonymity for safety reasons, stated that the suspect was not investigated under "Granny's Law," despite the assault being a potential felony.

This law in New York designates severe penalties for attackers who are significantly younger than their victims, especially if the victim is 65 or older. However, after identifying the suspect from news coverage, the victim confirmed that he is now facing assault charges.

Expressing frustration with the justice system, the victim criticized the current approach to handling mentally unstable offenders.

Recounting her years of using the subway without fear, she now dreads her daily commute, worried about random assaults.

The Manhattan District Attorney's Office refrained from commenting on the case until the suspect's extradition from New Jersey. The victim recounted the traumatic experience, recalling how the attacker hit her from behind twice, leaving her in shock and with a growing fear of commuting.

The incidents highlight concerns about rising violent crimes in the city amid post-pandemic recovery efforts. Despite her ordeal, the victim claimed that her case was downplayed in the incident report, which labeled the attack as a "slap" with no reported injuries, as she avoided seeking medical assistance due to COVID-19 fears.

Jones, the suspect, previously faced charges related to sex crimes, drug possession, and assaulting an officer. Regrettably, he is identified as an emotionally disturbed individual with a history of violent behavior.

Alarming statistics reveal multiple subway-related shoving incidents in the past two years, highlighting the urgent need for effective measures to protect public safety. The victim lamented the current approach to incarceration and its failure to prioritize public safety.
