Two Men, Daniel Corpus-Perez and Diego Verduzco, Accused of Assaulting Transgender Woman in North Las Vegas

Two individuals face allegations of restraining and sexually assaulting a transgender woman within a residence in North Las Vegas, with one of them purportedly using a rifle to intimidate and threaten her life.

According to Wednesday's announcement from prosecutors, Daniel Corpus-Perez and Diego Verduzco were indicted by a Clark County grand jury. The charges include first-degree kidnapping resulting in substantial bodily harm and sexual assault resulting in substantial bodily harm. 

Verduzco additionally faced an extra charge of assault with a deadly weapon.

The reported victim contacted the authorities from a hospital in the Las Vegas area on August 23, asserting that she had been kidnapped, raped, and subjected to burns at a North Las Vegas home, as per the police.

An officer from the scene conversed with the woman, who disclosed that she had connected with Verduzco on a dating app a few days prior. They had spent the night of August 22 together, drinking at a residence and then walking around the Strip. 

An argument ensued when they returned to Verduzco's house, triggered by the loud music played by his roommates.

During the altercation, Verduzco allegedly threatened the victim's life. The situation escalated as he punched her, rendering her unconscious. Upon awakening, the victim found herself bound with wire by Verduzco and another roommate, Corpus-Perez. Verduzco proceeded to sexually assault her and brandished an AR-style rifle, threatening her with death if she didn't comply.

Furthermore, Verduzco seized the victim's phone, taking photographs and making threatening statements. He forced her to watch videos, blaming her for the entire ordeal.

After several hours, Verduzco drove the victim home, warning her about potential consequences if law enforcement were to intervene. A family member later noticed the victim walking near her residence and promptly contacted the authorities.

The victim suffered visible injuries, including bruises, a cracked tooth, and marks on her wrists and ankles.

Following the incident, the North Las Vegas SWAT Team apprehended Verduzco and several others on August 24. Corpus-Perez denied involvement, while Verduzco chose not to speak with the authorities.

During hearings last month, a North Las Vegas Justice Court judge set bail at $40,000 for Verduzco and $10,000 for Corpus-Perez. Both individuals are expected to appear in district court later this month.
