Florida Woman Threatens Roommate with Ax Over Packing Dispute

A Florida woman, furious because her roommate and friend weren't packing up their stuff fast enough, threatened to hurt them, swung an ax into a wall multiple times, and got herself arrested, according to the authorities.

Andrea Cabrera, aged 52, is now facing charges of aggravated assault with a weapon without intending to kill and battery in connection to the incident at her Citra home.

The roommate told the deputies that Cabrera had an ax and threatened her and her friend. She had been living with Cabrera for around four to five days, and Cabrera had asked her to leave because things weren't working out.

The victim requested her friend's help to collect her belongings. While they were packing, Cabrera became verbally abusive, bumped into her shoulder, and kept verbally abusing them.

Both victims felt scared and believed Cabrera could harm them. They wanted to press charges against her. The male friend who was assisting in the packing process also faced verbal abuse from Cabrera, who became increasingly agitated and told them to hurry up. He realized she was holding an ax and swung it, hitting the wall next to his head.

The ax attack happened outside the bathroom door, causing damage to the door frame, but no one was injured. He decided to stay outside, loading the vehicle, as he was too afraid to reenter the house and also wished to press charges against Cabrera.

Cabrera told investigators that the victims had stayed at her home for a few days but had to leave. She claimed that when they weren't packing quickly enough, she told them to hurry up. She thought they could have packed their stuff faster and that they needed to work harder.

She said the verbal altercation started after she told them to hurry up, and that's why she grabbed the ax for protection. However, she denied verbally threatening the victims or wielding the ax.

Cabrera was taken into custody and booked into the Marion County Jail. The affidavit also mentioned two prior battery convictions in 2021.
