Heartbreaking Tragedy: Young Florida Girl, Jalina Anglin Passes Away in Collision with Police Vehicle

A tragic accident in Auburndale, Florida, has left a community in mourning following the loss of a beloved 5-year-old girl. Jalina Anglin, a bright and cheerful child, passed away on Saturday after the car she was riding in was struck by a police pickup truck responding to an emergency.

The incident occurred shortly before 10 p.m. at the intersection of US 92 and Havendale Boulevard.

An Auburndale Police Department sergeant was rushing to assist a fellow officer engaged in a physical altercation with a suspect on US 92 near Old Winter Haven Road.

According to witnesses, the police truck, with its lights flashing and sirens blaring, approached the intersection as the Kia sedan driven by Jalina's mother was stopped at a red light.

While most vehicles came to a halt, Jalina's mother, believing she had ample time to proceed, entered the intersection as the light turned green.

Tragically, the Kia collided with the police truck, causing severe injuries to Jalina, who was seated in the backseat. Despite being rushed to a local hospital, Jalina succumbed to her injuries, leaving her family and loved ones devastated.

The investigation into the accident is ongoing, with authorities focusing on the exact sequence of events and the role of seat belt usage in the tragic outcome.

While no charges are expected at this time, the loss of Jalina serves as a stark reminder of the importance of road safety and the need for everyone to exercise caution when navigating intersections.

In memory of Jalina Anglin, a shining star who touched the lives of many, let us strive to make our roads safer and prevent such heartbreaking tragedies from occurring again.
