R. Kelly Takes Legal Stand Against Privacy Breaches: A Battle Against the U.S., Prison Officers, and a YouTuber

R. Kelly, the Grammy-winning recording artist known as the King of R&B, has taken legal action against the United States, a Bureau of Prisons officer, and YouTuber LaTasha Kebe, also known as UnWinewithTashaK. 

Kelly alleges a violation of privacy through the unauthorized access of his confidential prison records and subsequent dissemination of private information.

In the lawsuit, Kelly, currently serving a 30-year sentence, claims negligence by the U.S., holding them responsible for Unknown BOP Officer A's repeated breaches of the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act. 

According to Kelly, Officer A accessed his TruView records 153 times, leading to the sharing or selling of information to YouTuber Tasha K.

The legal action contends that at least 60 federal prison officers accessed Kelly's sensitive information, some allegedly sharing or selling it to media and witnesses involved in his criminal prosecution. The lawsuit highlights a Washington Post story that resulted in the government seizing over $25,000 from Kelly's prison trust account, falsely suggesting he concealed resources.

The lawsuit reveals a secret investigation by the U.S. Department of Justice's Office of Inspector General, indicating probable cause for criminal charges against Unknown BOP Officer A. However, no criminal case was pursued, leading Kelly to claim a cover-up of ongoing BOP misconduct.

Kelly further alleges that Tasha K used stolen information to harass him, revealing private details about his literacy, medical issues, and romantic relationships, with the intention of influencing witnesses in his criminal prosecution. 

The lawsuit emphasizes a YouTube video where Tasha K disclosed information allegedly obtained through phone taps of Kelly's conversations.

The legal filing suggests that the internet's "feeding frenzy" about Kelly's personal life caused significant emotional distress, hindering his ability to communicate freely with his attorneys. 

Seeking compensatory and punitive damages, a jury trial, and attorneys' fees, Kelly's lawsuit aims to unveil the identity of Unknown BOP Officer A and holds multiple parties accountable for invasions of privacy, conversion, civil conspiracy, and intentional infliction of emotional distress.
