Russian Soldiers Arrested After Cold-Blooded Execution of Ukrainian Family in Russian-Occupied Territory, Volnovakha
A tragic incident unfolded in Volnovakha, a town under Russian occupation, where a Ukrainian family of nine, including two young children, was brutally murdered in their sleep, leading to the subsequent arrest of two Russian soldiers.
The soldiers, reportedly intoxicated, allegedly carried out the execution after the family refused to relinquish their residence to accommodate a Russian military unit.
The victims, identified as the Kapkanets family, included the household's patriarch, Eduard Kapkanets, his wife Tatiana, their sons, daughters-in-law, and grandchildren.
The massacre, conducted with machine guns equipped with silencers, left the entire family deceased, with harrowing images capturing the grim aftermath, including a couple locked in a final embrace and children lying motionless in bed beside a deceased relative.
Ukrainian Ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets condemned the incident, attributing the responsibility to the Russian perpetrators. Russian investigators detained the suspects, hailing from the Far East region of Russia, who are currently facing severe charges for their alleged involvement in the atrocity.
Prior to the massacre, the Kapkanets family had faced threats from a group of armed individuals, purportedly demanding that they vacate their residence for the accommodation of a Russian military unit. Despite their refusal, the soldiers returned days later, committing the heinous act while the family was asleep.
