Texas and Georgia Bank Robber, ‘Playbook Pilferer’ Arrested After a String of Heists


The FBI announced on Monday the arrest of a man known as the ‘Playbook Pilferer’, who is accused of robbing four banks in Texas and Georgia over the past two months. David Wayne Stanley, 58, was arrested on November 1 in Bleckley County, Georgia.

Stanley’s alleged crime spree began on September 18, when he robbed a Chase Bank in Houston, Texas. He then robbed two banks in the Houston area on October 20, before robbing a Wells Fargo Bank in Savannah, Georgia, on October 27.

Stanley was arrested without incident and is currently being held in the Chatham County Detention Center. He faces charges of robbery by intimidation in both Texas and Georgia.

Stanley was previously sentenced to 10 years in prison for a 2009 armed robbery in Harris County, Texas. He was released from prison in 2018.

The FBI is continuing to investigate the robberies and is asking anyone with information to come forward.
