Tragic Shooting Incident: Kentucky Woman Alleges Social Media Influence in Children's Deaths

A 32-year-old Kentucky woman, Tiffanie Lucas, facing accusations of fatally shooting her two children, claimed the act was an accident, stating she had been manipulated by social media, as reported by various sources.

On November 8, Lucas allegedly shot 6-year-old Maurice Baker Jr. and 9-year-old Jayden Howard, leading to their tragic deaths, according to WDRB, WKYT, and WAVE reports. The Bullitt County Sheriff’s Office press release on the same day announced two murder charges against Lucas.

During her appearance in a Bullitt County court on Tuesday, Detective Richard Beahl testified about responding to the scene in Shepherdsville, Ky. Beahl recounted that when officers arrived, Lucas walked out of her home and collapsed on the driveway of her neighbor’s home.

One neighbor was assisting Lucas, while another tended to the children inside, with the latter alleging Lucas's responsibility for the deaths.

After being taken in for questioning, Lucas claimed the incident was an accident and asserted that a third party had provided her with the gun, according to Beahl's testimony. She further stated, "I would never do anything like this unless someone manipulated me." Beahl testified that Lucas mentioned being "manipulated" by Facebook, the internet, and Wi-Fi.

The stepmother of Baker Jr., Michelle Rice, described the boys as "happy" and revealed she had previously contacted child protective services, claiming her concerns were not taken seriously.

The Kentucky Cabinet for Health and Family Services expressed devastation over the deaths in a statement to PEOPLE but couldn't comment on the ongoing case, noting no interactions with the family in the past year.
