A Brooklyn political volunteer allegedly stabbed his mother to death on Saturday. During an argument, the son stabbed his mother ten times, including three times in the face.
The mother was found dead in a pool of blood in her Bay Ridge apartment. The son was arrested hours later and charged with second-degree murder.
The son had political aspirations before the slaying, including a possible run for state Senate. He also had volunteered for City Councilman Ari Kagan.
The son's lawyer requested bail, citing his "lack of involvement in the criminal justice system." However, the request was denied by the judge, who called the allegations "very serious" and ordered he remain in custody without bail.
A neighbor said his girlfriend heard the mother screaming during the incident. "I guess it was quick, because they just stopped," he said. "This was a common occurrence, the arguments, for years. They would get heated, they'd yell at each other back and forth, in I think Russian, we would hear the screaming.
