Florida Cop, David Griffin Busted For Shoplifting at Walmart with Girlfriend, Shelbi DuBose

In a shocking turn of events, a Florida police officer and his girlfriend were arrested for shoplifting at Walmart. David Griffin, 48, and Shelbi DuBose, 28, were caught allegedly sneaking items into their bags during self-checkout.**

Sheriff Grady Judd confirmed the incident, stating that the duo scanned some items but deliberately skipped others. Despite an employee noticing and requesting a rescan, they continued their attempt to steal once the employee left.

Judd commented on their actions, quipping, "Together they didn't have but five brain cells. I guess they said 'Hey I guess we'll go ahead and skip scan some more.'"

After failing to pay for approximately $200 worth of merchandise out of a total of $340, they were apprehended on petit theft charges. This incident adds a new layer of irony to DuBose's choice of clothing, as she was wearing a shirt that read "Dear Santa, I can explain" during the arrest.

Judd further commented on the situation, addressing DuBose directly, "Well try it out. What are you doing? Are you saying 'Dear Santa, I need a Walmart gift card for Christmas because I got arrested stealing?' 'Dear Santa, can you send bond money to get me and David out of jail? Dear Santa, if you just bring me some toys I won't have to steal anymore.' She can't explain it, but we can. They're locked up in the county jail."

Both Griffin and DuBose were initially booked into the Polk County Jail but later released on bond. A deeper investigation revealed that they had not paid for several items during four prior trips to Walmart since October 15th, raising further questions about potential additional charges.

Following his arrest, Griffin resigned from the Haines City Police Department, where he had been employed since 2019. Police Chief Greg Goreck issued a statement on the matter, assuring the public that officers are held to high standards of integrity and ethical conduct. He further stressed that if Griffin had not resigned, swift and decisive action would have been taken to remove him from duty.

This incident serves as a stark reminder that even those entrusted with upholding the law can make serious mistakes. It will be interesting to see how this case unfolds and whether additional charges will be brought against the duo.
