Heartbreaking Tragedy: Man Sentenced to Life for Murdering Wife, Children, and Relative in House Fire In South Africa

59-year-old Kista Sergie Chetty, has been sentenced to five life terms in prison for the murder of his wife, their three children, and a relative.

Chetty killed Elisha Naidoo, 36, Jadene Naidoo, 13, Liam Naidoo, 8, Jordan Naidoo, 8, and Aldrin Chetty, 4, by setting them alight in their home in Kidstone Place, Phoenix, after a heated argument.

In addition to the life sentences, Chetty also received an additional 49 years in prison for six counts of attempted murder and arson.

The court heard that Chetty had been arguing with his wife and brother-in-law, who chased him away from the house. Chetty then returned to the house in the early hours of the morning and set it alight, killing his wife, three children, and a nephew.

Chetty was arrested later that day.

In a victim impact statement, Chetty's daughter said that she is haunted by the trauma of the incident and often has sleepless nights. She said that she only has her younger sister now, as her father is in prison and her mother and other siblings are dead.

The court sentenced Chetty to life in prison for each of the five counts of murder, seven years imprisonment for each of the six counts of attempted murder, and seven years imprisonment for arson.
