Kentucky Woman, Michelle Bray Jailed for Decades in Child Abuse and Animal Cruelty Case

A Kentucky woman has been sentenced to 30 years in prison for her role in the physical and sexual abuse of her children. The case also involved animal cruelty crimes, and the couple made videos of the abuse for their own sexual gratification.

Michelle Bray, 43, was convicted of nine counts in October, including sexual abuse, human trafficking, and child abuse. Her partner, Christopher Whittaker, was sentenced to 10 life sentences in prison in September.

Court documents detailed the horrific extent of the couple's crimes. Between 2016 and 2021, Whittaker repeatedly abused Bray's children, including a nonverbal 7-year-old son and a daughter who was under 12 at the time. They filmed the abuse on video, and the videos also showed Whittaker torturing the family's cat.

Bray was shown hundreds of these videos during her trial. She showed no remorse and even participated in some of the abuse, including teaching a child how to perform a fetish by stepping on Whittaker.

Assistant Commonwealth's Attorney Emily Arnzen said, "Everyone in the room was crying at some point during this trial. But the most shocking thing was Michelle Bray was the last to shed any tears."

Whittaker initially blamed one of the victims for the abuse, but later admitted to his crimes.

Bray will be eligible for parole after 20 years.
