Hollywood heartthrob Jonathan Majors, known for his villainous turn as Kang the Conqueror in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, is officially out of the superhero kingdom. The news comes after a NYC jury found him guilty of reckless assault and harassment in a domestic violence trial.
Marvel Studios made the difficult decision to cut ties with Majors, who had already played a pivotal role in Phase 4 and was slated for even bigger things in Phases 5 and 6.
His reign as Kang, the time-traveling supervillain, spanned from the hit Disney+ series "Loki" to the box office smash "Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania." Majors also delivered knockout performances in back-to-back hits like "Creed III" and the indie film "Magazine Dreams."
Despite sticking with him through his legal battle, Majors' talent agency WME can no longer represent him. The actor's future projects, including his own "Avengers: The Kang Dynasty" movie, are now in limbo. Marvel is faced with the dilemma of either recasting Kang or potentially rethinking the character's entire storyline.
This isn't the first time Marvel has had to replace an actor mid-franchise (remember Rhodey in "Iron Man"?). However, Majors' departure throws a major wrench in their upcoming plans, leaving fans wondering what's next for Kang and the MCU's future.
