A chilling video captured the horrifying moment three armed individuals ambushed a black Honda sedan in Richmond Hill on Tuesday night, leaving a young mother dead and the driver wounded. Clarissa Burgos, 28, was sitting in the front passenger seat when the barrage of gunfire erupted near 127th Street and Liberty Avenue just before midnight.
Burgos, a loving mother to a 4-year-old son, was struck once in the head and died instantly. The driver, a 39-year-old man, sustained multiple gunshot wounds to the torso but managed to flee the scene and drive to the 103rd precinct station house for help. He is currently in stable condition at Jamaica Hospital Medical Center.
The grainy security footage obtained by media outlets reveals the chilling sequence of events. Two men in dark clothing are seen slowly crossing the street and approaching the car, while a third walks casually by on the sidewalk. Suddenly, one of the men draws a weapon and unleashes a volley of bullets into the driver's side window, followed by another flurry of shots from behind.
The wounded driver desperately tries to escape, but the third suspect, who had been walking on the sidewalk, sprints in front of the car and empties another magazine through the windshield and driver's window. The video shows the three gunmen fleeing the scene as the victim's car stalls momentarily before driving away.
As of Wednesday evening, no arrests have been made, and the motive for this senseless attack remains shrouded in mystery. Burgos' family is understandably devastated by the tragedy, and her aunt expressed her grief to reporters, stating, "We raised her with love, and God knows what happened to her."
This brutal act of violence has left the community shaken and desperate for answers. Police are actively investigating the case, and security footage is being analyzed in the hopes of identifying the perpetrators.
