A well-known socialite from Kenya, Starlet Wahu, tragically lost her life in a distressing incident at a shortlet rental apartment in South B, Nairobi County. Wahu, 26 years old and the sister of controversial preacher Victor Kanyari, was discovered deceased in the apartment on January 4, 2024.
Reports from the police revealed that Wahu arrived at Papino Apartments accompanied by a man identified as John Matara, 34, the evening prior to the tragic incident. The young socialite was found deceased in the apartment, leading to her burial at her family home in Kamulu on January 6.
Surveillance footage captured Wahu and Matara entering the apartment block, proceeding to their rented room. However, the discovery of Wahu's body in the apartment came after Matara left the premises hastily, wearing clothes stained with blood.
Florence Ngina, the apartment owner, notified authorities after being informed by a security guard.

Upon accessing the locked apartment, Ngina discovered Wahu's lifeless body, triggering the involvement of law enforcement. Police reports detailed a chaotic and bloody scene, indicating signs of a struggle, with Wahu sustaining fatal injuries to her head and thigh.
Makadara police boss, Judith Nyongesa, mentioned that Wahu's death was due to excessive bleeding, revealing details about the fatal injury. The police found items including HIV testing kits, used condoms, drugs, alcohol, and a blood-stained kitchen knife at the scene, assumed to be the murder weapon.
Further investigation led authorities to track down Matara at Mbagathi County Hospital, where he was receiving treatment for a stab wound. Upon discharge, Matara was arrested and held for questioning in connection with the incident.
