Over four months after the heartbreaking discovery of a 12-year-old boy, Jacarie Robinson, found deceased in his Milwaukee home, his father, Romuan Moyes, has been arrested.
Jacarie's body was found in October 2023, showing signs of severe neglect and malnourishment. Authorities believe he had been dead for weeks before the tragic discovery. This led them to suspect foul play and launch a nationwide manhunt for Moyes, who disappeared shortly after.
Their search finally led to Moyes' arrest on Sunday. He now faces several serious charges, including causing Jacarie's death (homicide), neglecting his son's well-being for an extended period (chronic neglect), and failing to report the death to authorities.
At a court appearance in Milwaukee, a judge ordered Moyes to have no contact with his three remaining children. While Jacarie was the only child under his care at the time of the incident, the court is taking necessary precautions.
Moyes is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on March 4th, where the court will determine the next steps in the case. If convicted, he could face a significant fine and be sentenced to prison for up to 82 years.
This tragedy highlights the importance of child well-being and the crucial role communities play in reporting suspected neglect or abuse.
