In Pennsylvania, a harrowing tale of parental abuse has emerged, as a mother and father stand accused of subjecting their 6-year-old daughter to physical and emotional torment. Allegations include restraining her in a locked dog cage for prolonged periods, depriving her of food for days, and inciting other children in the household to assault her.
Jacob William Weight, 37, and Mimi Ann Frost, 33, were apprehended on Tuesday and face charges including aggravated assault, strangulation, corruption of minors, simple assault, and endangering the welfare of children, as authorities disclosed.
Pennsylvania State Police launched a thorough investigation following reports of abuse by the parents. The probe initiated when PSP troopers responded to a distress call on Jan. 7, 2024, concerning an unresponsive 6-year-old at a residence in Brownsville Borough, Fayette County. Upon arrival, responders encountered Weight, who allegedly obstructed their entry to the house and instead brought the 6-year-old victim outside. She was promptly transported to Uniontown Hospital, where medical professionals noted her body temperature at a perilously low 88.7 degrees.
The state of the residence shocked authorities, with reports of dog feces, trash, and urine littered throughout. Interviews with the children residing in the home revealed disturbing details, including the confinement of the 6-year-old in a dog crate, restrained with zip ties, and subjected to beatings with a broom. Moreover, additional criminal acts against the child were uncovered.
A subsequent hospital report described the victim as severely hypothermic upon admission, with many teeth displaying signs of decay and damage.
Fayette County District Attorney Mike Aubele provided insights into the dire conditions faced by the children in the household, describing the victim's ordeal as torture at the hands of her parents. He expressed bewilderment as to why only the 6-year-old suffered such abuse in a household with six children. Furthermore, evidence suggested the involvement of some children in the abuse alongside the parents.
Throughout the investigation, disturbing details emerged, painting a picture of relentless torment inflicted upon the child. The girl reportedly endured numerous abrasions, open sores, and was believed to be septic. Locked in the cage each night, she allegedly subsisted on dog food and endured further mistreatment, including being shot with a BB gun by her father.
The severity of the abuse outlined in the criminal complaint suggests a perilous environment for the child's well-being. Law enforcement emphasized the grave risk of returning her to such conditions.
The accused parents are currently incarcerated in Fayette County Jail without bond, awaiting a court appearance scheduled for Feb. 20. District Attorney Aubele expressed astonishment at the girl's resilience in surviving the ordeal, emphasizing the gravity of the abuse inflicted upon her.
