A Colorado teenager, Gavin Seymour, has received a 40-year prison sentence after pleading guilty to second-degree murder.
This conviction stems from a horrific arson attack in August 2020 that claimed the lives of five family members.
Seymour, 19 at sentencing, was one of three teenagers involved in the fire.
The fire ripped through a Denver home, killing Djibril Diol, his wife Adja, their young daughter, and tragically, Diol's sister Hassan along with her infant child.
Another teenager, Dillon Siebert, who was only 14 at the time of the fire, pleaded guilty to the same charge last year.
He received a sentence of three years in a juvenile facility followed by seven years in an adult detention program.
The remaining suspect, Kevin Bui, faces multiple murder charges and awaits his arraignment later this month.
Investigators suspect that the fire was an act of revenge, triggered by a robbery that Bui claimed to have experienced.

However, authorities confirmed the victims had no connection to the robbery.
Police identified the suspects through a combination of witness statements and crucial digital evidence.
A search warrant revealed Bui had searched online for the victims' address multiple times in the weeks leading up to the fire. Additionally, messages retrieved from Bui's phone allegedly showed communication with Seymour regarding the robbery.
Seymour expressed remorse during his sentencing hearing, stating his deep regret and apologizing to the victims' families and the community.
