Two Suspects Charged in West Seattle Fatal Gang-Related Shooting: What You Need to Know

Two suspects have been charged with second-degree murder following a deadly shooting that rocked West Seattle on July 23, 2023.

On that fateful day, 26-year-old Rayshawn Parker fell victim to a senseless act of gun violence, losing his life in a shooting at a gas station located in the 5400 block of Delridge Way Southwest.

Parker attempted to flee the scene but tragically crashed his vehicle on the West Seattle Bridge. Despite efforts to save him, he succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.

The suspects in question are Derrion Lewis, 22 years old, and Lederian Thomas, who was just 16 at the time of the incident.

Lewis, already in custody since August on charges related to two other murders in King County, has been linked to a string of violent crimes.

This includes the fatal shooting at the Tukwila gas station on July 28, 2023, and another incident outside a Des Moines grocery store on July 24, 2023.

Thomas, on the other hand, has had his own run-ins with the law, including a previous conviction for domestic violence felony harassment, and firearm possession.

Detectives believe that Lewis and Thomas were affiliated with local gangs and that the shooting may have been part of an ongoing feud between rival groups.

With charges now filed, Lewis faces the possibility of being held without bail due to his violent criminal history. Meanwhile, Thomas has had his bail set at $2,000,000.

Both are scheduled to appear in court for their arraignments on March 25.

As the legal process unfolds, our thoughts remain with the family and friends of Rayshawn Parker, whose life was cut short far too soon.

Let us hope that justice is served and that steps can be taken to prevent such tragedies from occurring in the future.
