A decades-old mystery in Utah has taken a significant turn with the arrest of a suspect in the 1996 murder of Lisa Redmond, a pizza delivery driver.

Nearly 30 years after her tragic death, Donald Eugene Younge Jr. now faces charges of murder, aggravated kidnapping, and robbery.

Redmond, a 36-year-old mother, was last seen alive on December 9th, 1996, leaving the Pizza Hut where she worked to make a delivery.

Sadly, her lifeless body was found just 11 minutes later on the side of the road.

Though still clad in her Pizza Hut uniform, a chilling sign of her job, investigators quickly determined foul play was involved.

Redmond's pickup truck, the vehicle she used for deliveries, was later discovered in a parking lot a short distance from the crime scene.

Inside the truck, detectives found a chilling clue: a bloodstained knife hidden behind the driver's seat.

Additionally, signs of struggle within the vehicle further fueled suspicion of a violent encounter.

The investigation took a tragic turn when evidence of blood underneath the truck indicated Redmond may have been run over.

Despite a thorough initial investigation, the case remained unsolved for years.

However, a crucial breakthrough arrived in March 2019.

Advanced DNA testing on blood recovered from the truck's seatbelt buckle yielded a match – Donald Eugene Younge Jr.

This match was further bolstered by fingerprint evidence found on the recovered knife, also linking Younge to the crime scene.

Intriguingly, investigators discovered that Younge frequently took the bus in 1996, and his route passed within a few miles of the Pizza Hut where Redmond worked.

This detail raised further questions about his potential connection to the case.

Younge is currently serving a lengthy prison sentence for unrelated charges of aggravated sexual assault and robbery.

However, this new development in the Redmond case sheds light on a potentially disturbing pattern.

Local news reports suggest Younge was convicted in a separate 2010 case involving the sexual assault of a University of Utah student, occurring just a month before Redmond's murder.

The arrest of Younge opens a new chapter in this long-cold case.

Prosecutors are also exploring the possibility of Younge's involvement in another unsolved Utah murder of a young woman in 1999.

Additionally, reports mention past charges in unrelated murders and possible connections to a series of unsolved killings outside Utah.

With Younge now in custody, the Redmond family may finally see a glimmer of justice after nearly three decades of unanswered questions.
