The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) in British Columbia (BC) are once again appealing to the public for information on the whereabouts of Kevin Louis Vermette, a man wanted in connection with a chilling triple murder that occurred over two decades ago.

Vermette, now believed to be 70 years old, is the prime suspect in the fatal shooting of three young men and the injuring of another near Kitimat, BC, on July 12th, 1997.

The incident unfolded at a campsite, where the four individuals were allegedly targeted by Vermette with a shotgun.

Following the crime, Vermette vanished.

Authorities believe he fled on foot into the rugged wilderness surrounding Kitimat, abandoning his vehicle at his motel residence and taking his black Labrador retriever with him.

He has not been seen since.

The RCMP emphasizes that Vermette should be considered armed and dangerous.

Due to the significant time that has passed, his appearance is likely to have changed considerably.

"The RCMP is seeking any information that might help locate Mr. Vermette," the statement reads.

A recently released sketch portrays how he might look today.

Vermette is known to have several tattoos, including:

  • A cat on his upper right arm with the word "Lucky" underneath.
  • A combination of a coyote, moon, and dagger piercing a red rose on his left arm.
