A teenager from Florida has been arrested by Miami-Dade police, accused of shooting and killing his ex-girlfriend's mother after she ended their relationship.
According to reports, the incident occurred on Thursday, June 27, around 7:40 p.m.
The 16-year-old suspect allegedly shot Eulalia Gonzalez, 38, while she was holding her baby daughter on the front porch of her house.
She was rushed to Jackson South Medical Center but tragically passed away from her injuries.
The suspect faces serious charges of first-degree murder and possessing a firearm as a minor.
It's unclear at this time whether he has entered any pleas or obtained legal representation.
Police investigations revealed that Gonzalez's daughter had recently ended a nine-month relationship with the suspect, who had allegedly been in contact with Gonzalez and had made threats towards her daughter.
He reportedly warned her that she couldn't be with anyone else if she wasn't with him.
A neighbor witnessed the tragic event, seeing the suspect approach Gonzalez with a handgun.
The neighbor rushed inside to call for help and returned to find Gonzalez shot and critically injured.
Fortunately, Gonzalez's baby daughter was unharmed during the incident.
The suspect was apprehended after police obtained a search warrant for his home.
He allegedly admitted to using a ride-share service to get to and from the crime scene, stating that he intended to retaliate against his ex-girlfriend's family for ending the relationship.
A fundraiser on GoFundMe has been set up for Gonzalez's family, describing her as a loving mother to four children, with the youngest being just one month old. '
The fundraiser aims to cover unexpected expenses such as funeral costs and legal fees.
As of now, the campaign has raised $1,420 towards its $20,000 goal.
