A Teenage Love Triangle Turns Deadly: The Case of Dwight "DJ" Grant

In October 2021, a high school love triangle turned deadly, leaving the Miramar, Florida community in shock.

18-year-old Dwight "DJ" Grant, a Miramar High School student, was brutally murdered in a premeditated crime.

This was not just another senseless act of violence but one fueled by jealousy and revenge.

This case involves three young suspects, Christie Parisien, Jaslyn Smith, and Andre Clements.

They were all connected by their involvement in a dangerous and toxic love triangle.

How It All Began: A Toxic Connection

Dwight Grant, known as DJ, had been involved with Andre Clements’ ex-girlfriend.

This relationship triggered a deadly path for Andre, his girlfriend Christie Parisien, and their mutual friend Jaslyn Smith.

Investigators reported that Andre was seriously angry about DJ’s involvement with his ex.

Sadly, this anger soon turned into a dangerous obsession.

His girlfriend Christie shared Andre’s pain and helped him plan the murder, while Jaslyn acted as their accomplice.

The trio started their plan by discussing it through social media messages, where they exchanged troubling threats.

Andre, who was the most enraged, sent texts that clearly indicated his intentions: "Murder will definitely happen soon," and "It'll be bloody."

DJ’s Tragic End

On October 17, 2021, DJ disappeared after being lured to an apartment complex by Christie Parisien.

She had invited him there under the pretense of having sex.

Little did DJ know that his life would come to a brutal end that evening.

Once inside the apartment, he was ambushed by Andre and Jaslyn.

During the attack, Andre stabbed DJ in the neck with a knife and in the chest with a sword.

Surveillance footage captured fragments of the horrific assault.

It showed the suspects walking together shortly before the attack.

They were later seen dragging what appeared to be DJ’s lifeless body.

DJ’s body was found two days later in the bushes near his home, with the knife still nearby.

The Investigation: Piecing Together the Motive

The investigation into DJ’s murder revealed a disturbing pattern of jealousy and anger.

Andre, the main perpetrator, had been sending threatening messages to both his co-conspirators and his ex-girlfriend.

In these messages, he warned her that DJ would soon "disappear."

While Andre claimed that DJ had raped his ex-girlfriend, police found no evidence to support this allegation.

Instead, they discovered that the relationship between DJ and Andre’s ex had been consensual.

Christie and Jaslyn’s roles in the crime were also damning.

Christie admitted to luring DJ to the apartment complex, knowing full well that Andre and Jaslyn were waiting to ambush him.

Jaslyn, on the other hand, played a key role in both restraining DJ and helping dispose of his body afterward.

What shocked the investigators was the premeditated nature of the crime.

This wasn’t a spontaneous outburst of violence but rather a carefully planned attack.

Justice Served: A Plea Deal and a Pending Trial

After DJ’s murder, all three suspects were arrested.

They were charged with first-degree murder, tampering with evidence, and conspiracy to commit murder.

As the case progressed, both Christie Parisien and Jaslyn Smith accepted plea deals.

They pled guilty to second-degree murder.

As a result, they each received 25-year prison sentences, followed by 10 years of probation.

During their sentencing, both Christie and Jaslyn expressed remorse for their actions.

They cried as DJ’s mother gave a heart-wrenching statement in court.

While they will spend decades behind bars, their sentences serve as a reminder of how easily youthful emotions and jealousy can spiral into irreversible consequences.

As for Andre Clements, his case remains pending.

Unlike his co-conspirators, he has maintained his plea of not guilty and has chosen to represent himself in court.

His trial is set to begin in January 2025.

He continues to deny any wrongdoing, despite the overwhelming evidence against him.

This included the incriminating text messages and the surveillance footage of the attack.
