On February 19, 2013, nearly three weeks after Elisa disappeared, a hotel maintenance worker named Santiago Lopez investigated several complaints from guests.
They complained about low water pressure and an unusual taste in the hotel’s tap water.
While investigating the situation, Lopez was horrified to find Elisa's lifeless body, floating in one of the large rooftop water tanks.
The water tank had to be drained entirely and cut open from the side to remove Elisa’s body.
Elisa was discovered lying face-up in the tank.
She was still wearing the clothes she had on in the surveillance video.
However, how Elisa reached the rooftop, let alone entered the tank, remained an unsolved puzzle.
