Body Found in Texas Creek Believed to Be Missing 25-Year-Old Jeremy Neves

After nearly three months of searching, the Abilene Police Department (APD) has confirmed that a body found in a Texas creek is believed to be that of Jeremy Neves.

According to PEOPLE, he was a 25-year-old man who went missing in early April.

The discovery brings a heartbreaking end to a case that has deeply affected his family and the local community.

Jeremy Neves was last seen leaving Guitars and Cadillacs bar in Abilene shortly after 11 p.m. on April 3, 2025.

When he didn’t return home, his family reported him missing, which led to an active investigation by local authorities.

For weeks, extensive search efforts led by both law enforcement and volunteers turned up little evidence.

But on June 26,2025, the Rapid Compassion Collective (Rapid CC), a nonprofit specializing in missing persons cases, located Neves’ 2002 tan Oldsmobile Alero submerged in Lytle Lake.

Divers were able to recover the vehicle and sadly, they found a body inside matching Neves’ description.

The APD has said that the remains have been sent for an autopsy to confirm identity and determine the cause of death.

In a press release, authorities expressed their condolences saying:
“The Abilene Police Department extends its deepest condolences to the Neves family during this difficult time. We are grateful to the numerous individuals and organizations that assisted in the search"

According to his cousin, Shawn Murphy, Jeremy was a primary caretaker for his mother, who is disabled and on a fixed income, as per KTXS News.

Murphy set up a GoFundMe to help cover funeral costs and support Neves’ mother who is devastated by this heartbreaking news.

On the page, he described Jeremy as someone with a “child-like spirit” who “would give the world to anyone.”

As of June 29, the fundraiser has raised over $6,000 of its $7,000 goal.

The Rapid Compassion Collective team, based in Georgia, played a crucial role in solving this case.

Founder Samantha Sides shared the emotional toll of their work, saying:
“It’s bittersweet… We found the missing person, but then we’re hit with the realization that this was somebody’s loved one. He’s not coming back.”

Since its inception, the organization has helped locate 10 missing people and 100 vehicles, offering answers and closure to grieving families.

While the discovery provides some closure, many questions remain unanswered.

The APD continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding Neves’ disappearance and death.

For now, the community mourns a young man remembered for his kindness and dedication to his family.
