In February, 2024, a shocking true crime story happened in North Fort Myers, Florida.
A married couple was arrested by The Lee County Sheriff's Office for animal cruelty and sexual activities involving their pets.
According to police reports, the details of the crime were so disturbing and disgusting that they shocked the entire community.
The Arrest and Criminal Complaint
On February 15, 2024, the Lee County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant at the home of Samantha White, 26, and John White, 29, in North Fort Myers.
The search was part of a criminal investigation into the couple’s activities after police received tips about possible animal cruelty and child exploitation.
According to the criminal complaint, Samantha White had sex with the family’s dog (a male chocolate Labrador retriever) on multiple occasions.
Her husband, John White, was accused of recording his wife on his cellphone, while she had sex with the dog
During the search, detectives found John White's phone in a toilet tank, which suggested that he was trying to destroy evidence.
After intense questioning, John later admitted to investigators that the device contained videos of his wife having sex with the family dog.
John also added that the disturbing videos were filmed in late 2023 or early 2024.
According to Law & Crime, Samantha White confessed to the disturbing acts during an interview with a female detective.
She also told police that she first got fascinated with the evil idea after watching videos of people having sex with horses.
She admitted to experimenting with the family dog while she was drunk.
She claimed the sexual encounters were not something she enjoyed but had tried out of curiosity.
Both Samantha and John White were arrested that same Friday in February 2024.
The Aftermath: Dogs Rescued, Couple Charged
After their arrest, Samantha was charged with sexual activities involving animals and John was charged with recording bestiality.
They were released later that day after posting $5,000 bond each.
Also, The Lee County Domestic Animal Services removed four dogs from the home after their arrest.
Authorities confirmed the animals showed no physical injuries and were placed in protective custody.
Samantha later entered a plea agreement and pleaded no contest to three counts of sexual activities involving animals.
In exchange for pleading guilty, prosecutors dismissed the child pornography charges.
In July 2024, she was sentenced to three years in prison, followed by three years of probation.
As part of her probation, she is banned from owning or living with animals and has been added to Florida’s Animal Abuser Registry.
John White’s case is still pending, with his next court hearing scheduled soon.
He faces charges for filming bestiality and additional counts related to child pornography possession.
Forensic psychiatrists suggest that zoophilia (sexual attraction to animals) often stems from:
- A history of childhood trauma
- Social isolation or attachment disorders
- Substance abuse, which lowers inhibitions
In Samantha's case, alcohol likely made her lose control and do those disturbing things.
She reportedly told detectives that she had a fascination with animal anatomy, particularly horses, and admitted to having sex with the family dog while intoxicated.
