Maryland State Police have charged 31-year-old Darrian Randle with murdering her 3-year-old daughter, Nola Dinkins.
It all began on June 11,2025, when Randle went to the police and lied that an armed stranger had kidnapped her daughter at gunpoint in Newark, Delaware.
She told criminal investigators that after leaving their apartment complex, she and Nola stopped on a dead-end road when the child started crying.
Randle claimed that while she was checking on her crying daughter, a black SUV with rust or dirt on the sides pulled up behind her.
She said a man wearing a black hoodie and gray shorts asked if she was okay.
She claimed he then got out of the SUV, pointed a gun at them, grabbed Nola, and ran back to the SUV, which was driven by a white woman

The report led to a quick response from law enforcement.
An Amber Alert was issued, and a large search began overnight in Delaware and Maryland.
But as detectives looked closer at Randle’s story, they noticed some inconsistencies.
After an extensive investigation, detectives concluded that Randle's kidnapping report was entirely false.
"Information gleaned throughout the investigation revealed the initial report provided by Randle was false," Maryland State Police stated in their press release.
The Amber Alert was subsequently canceled, and the search was called off.
However, the case took a disturbing turn when police found human remains "consistent with that of a child" in a vacant lot in North East, Maryland.
The medical examiner is now working to confirm the identity through an autopsy.
Both individuals were arrested and now face serious charges.
Randle has been charged with first- and second-degree murder, first-degree child abuse resulting in the death of a minor under 13, and filing a false police report in Delaware.
Britten was arrested and charged with accessory to first- and second-degree murder and failure to report the death of the child.
Randle remains in custody at the Baylor Women's Correctional Institution in Delaware, with her preliminary court hearing scheduled for June 23, 2025.
Britten is being held in Maryland awaiting transport to Cecil County District Court for his initial appearance.
The investigation remains ongoing, and authorities have not released additional details about what led to Nola's death or the circumstances surrounding the alleged crimes.
It is currently unclear whether either Randle or Britten have obtained legal representation who could speak on their behalf.
According to the Castle County Police, the case has transitioned to a homicide investigation.
