Jalin White: Wisconsin Man Sentenced After Throwing Infant Son Against Wall During Video Game Rage

A Milwaukee man has been sentenced to more than a decade behind bars after admitting that he violently threw his 8-month-old baby boy against a wall during a fit of anger while playing a basketball video game.

Jalin A. White, 22, pleaded guilty on December, 29, 2025, to physical abuse of a child causing great bodily harm and child neglect resulting in great bodily harm.

Judge Anderson M. Gansner ultimately sentenced White to 12 years in prison, followed by seven years of probation, as reported by Law&Crime.

The sad incident happened on November 5, 2024, inside a family home on 42nd Street in Milwaukee, where White lived with his girlfriend, her parents, and their infant son.

The house was reportedly owned by White's girlfriends parents and the young couple were renting a room in the house.

On the day of the incident, White was home alone with their infant son, who is identified as JW, while his girlfriend went to work.

When the mother first returned home from work, she saw her son healthy and acting normally. She later left again to buy marijuana, leaving the baby in White’s care.

While she was gone, White was playing NBA2K, a popular basketball video game, and holding the baby to keep him calm.

White later became angry and frustrated while playing the game because he was reportedly losing by two points late in the fourth quarter.

At some point, he said the baby became heavy in his arms, and instead of putting the child down safely, White threw the infant toward the bed.

However, the baby did not land on the bed but instead, his head hit the wall with force, before he fell face down to the ground.

When the baby’s mother returned home, she immediately noticed something was wrong as the infant was making strange sounds, barely breathing, and his right arm was twitching.

She picked up her son from his playpen and prepared to go to a hospital, but White reportedly became angry and demanded she give the baby back.

Anyway she ignored him, and rushed to her father who lived in the same house for help.

After seeing the baby’s condition, he told her to call 911 immediately, and when paramedics arrived, they rushed the baby to the hospital, where doctors discovered serious injuries.

The child had multiple skull fractures, six broken ribs, and a healing broken collarbone, suggesting earlier trauma.

At one point, the baby lost his pulse and required multiple rounds of CPR. Infact, doctors initially believed he might not survive, but thankfully, the infant later survived after intensive treatment.

During his interrogation with investigators, White gave them several false explanations for the injuries.

He first claimed the baby fell off an air mattress onto the carpeted floor but after detectives pressed him further, White reportedly admitted to the crime, saying he clearly heard the baby’s head strike the wall.

“My son hit his head on the wall. He hit his head hard on the wall, bro. I heard it. It was loud,” White told investigators, as per Law&Crime

White was later charged and held in the Milwaukee County Jail on a $100,000 bond as the case moved through the courts.

At the time of White’s arrest, prosecutors said the charges could be increased to homicide if the baby died, but thankfully the child survived.

In December 2023, White pleaded guilty to two felony charges related to the abuse, and in the end he received a 12 year sentence, which is slightly less than the 14 years requested by prosecutors.

“This is a severe level of violence for an innocent, infant child,” a prosecutor said during one of his court appearance.

According to Fox6 Milwaukee, even though the child survived, he still uses a feeding tube and has vision issues from the incident.

White was also ordered to complete treatment programs and is permanently banned from using corporal punishment on any child under his care.
