In Adamawa state, Nigeria, the police have apprehended a 24-year-old man named Amos Christopher on charges of fatally assaulting his younger brother.
The suspect, who reportedly struggles with epilepsy, is accused of killing his 4-year-old sibling, Thyson Christopher, and subsequently beheading him on Monday, June 19, 2023.
According to the authorities, the suspect, being the eldest among his siblings, experienced a seizure and collapsed on June 18. Neighbors assisted in bringing him back home.
However, his health deteriorated, and the following morning, he exhibited a drastic change in behavior, violently attacking his mother and younger brothers who were present in the house.
Allegedly, he seized the 4-year-old boy, dragging him into a room and locking the door, where he mercilessly beat him to death.
Despite the mother's desperate attempts to rescue her child, her efforts were in vain. In his agitated state, the suspect purportedly carried the lifeless body outside, using a hoe in his possession to sever the head and break it into two.
During interrogation with the command's spokesperson, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje said the suspect, who rarely speaks, denied any involvement and claimed his younger brother was still at home.
When questioned by the spokesperson, the suspect's father and victim's father, Christopher Haruna, revealed that the incident occurred while he was working on the farm. He confirmed that Amos has been battling with epilepsy, shedding light on the underlying circumstances of the tragedy.
