Arrest Made in Murder of Beaver County Teen: Suspect Charged in Tragic "Execution Style Shooting"


Authorities have announced an arrest in the murder case of a teenager from Beaver County who was shot over the weekend.

During a news conference, the district attorney and the Ambridge police chief revealed that Nashean Hunt, 18, has been charged in the death of 15-year-old Asaun Moreland. Tearful family members of Moreland were present at the conference.

Moreland was discovered unresponsive on Church Street and was pronounced dead at the scene on Sunday. One of the shooters involved remains at large.

According to DA David Lozier, both individuals involved in the incident were wearing dark hoodies, face masks, and dark pants.

They followed Moreland through Ambridge, and it was evident that Moreland was aware of being pursued. He tried to escape and run away, but the other individuals caught up to him. 

The police state that Hunt and the other man shot Moreland four times, executing him in a style reminiscent of an execution.

The swift apprehension of Hunt was made possible with the assistance of the community. 

Chief John DeLuca praised the citizens who risked their own safety to track the suspects through multiple blocks, providing valuable information and pointing out surveillance cameras along the way.

Hunt was eventually located inside his apartment on Olive Lane, where SWAT officers conducted the arrest. 

Crews were seen making repairs and replacing the front door of the apartment building.

Chief DeLuca expressed gratitude for the community's involvement, emphasizing the need for citizens to come forward and share information to help solve crimes, particularly those involving out-of-control juveniles.
