Breakthrough in Tupac Shakur Murder Case: Search Warrant Executed For 1996 Murder Of Tupac Shakur

The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police confirmed to CNN on Tuesday that they carried out a search warrant in Henderson, Nevada as part of the ongoing investigation into the 1996 murder of musician Tupac Shakur.

The statement from LVMPD read, "LVMPD can confirm a search warrant was served in Henderson, Nevada on July 17, 2023, as part of the ongoing Tupac Shakur homicide investigation. We will have no further comment at this time."

The authorities have not disclosed the exact location of the search, and CNN has reached out for more information.

Tupac Shakur was shot multiple times in Las Vegas in 1996 while leaving a boxing match at the MGM Grand hotel on the Las Vegas Strip. He was in a car with former Death Row Records CEO Suge Knight when a white Cadillac pulled up alongside them, and shots were fired from the back window.

Back in 1996, CNN reported that authorities believed the rapper was the intended target of the shooting, but to this day, the investigation remains unsolved.
