Couple Arrested And Charged With Murder For Killing And Disposing Off Their New Born Baby In A Dust Bin
A 20-year-old woman, Blessing Ben, has been arrested by the Nigerian police on suspicion of killing her newborn baby.
The police also apprehended Luka Iliyasu, believed to be Ben's lover, as an accomplice in the alleged crime.
Ben, who was reportedly impregnated by Iliyasu, gave birth to a baby boy at her parents' home in Jambutu, located in the Yola North Local Government Area of Adamawa State.
According to neighbors, Ben allegedly killed the baby and concealed its remains for three days.
The deceased infant was discovered when scavengers searching for valuable items stumbled upon the decomposing body in the family's waste bin. Onlookers alerted the police to the distressing find.
During interrogation, Ben vehemently denied killing the baby, stating that the child was lifeless at birth.
She claimed that the baby died in the womb and expressed disbelief at the accusation of intentional harm.
The police have handed over the remains of the child to experts for autopsy, and once the results are obtained, the accused individuals will face prosecution in court.
