Authorities in northwestern Oregon made a significant announcement on Monday, stating that they now believe the deaths of four young women are connected after months of investigation, according to the Multnomah County District Attorney's Office.
The bodies of the women, aged between 22 and 31, were discovered earlier this year, and the cause and manner of their deaths are yet to be determined by the state's medical examiner.
The four victims were identified as Kristin Smith (22), Ashley Real (22), Charity Lynn Perry (24), and Bridget Leann (Ramsay) Webster (31), all with ties to Portland.
Multiple individuals have been interviewed in relation to the cases, and at least one person of interest, linked to all four women, has been identified. However, no charges have been filed so far.
The district attorney's office stated that, based on the information available to investigators, there is currently no believed active danger to the community. The death investigations remain ongoing.
This development comes after previous statements by the Portland police, around a month and a half ago, where they had no reason to believe that the deaths of six women in the region were connected.
The remains of Kristin Smith were discovered in February, in a wooded area, after she had been reported missing in late December.
Charity Perry's body was found near a highway just northeast of Portland on April 27, with her last known area of frequenting being downtown Portland.
Bridget Leann (Ramsey) Webster's body was found near Mill Creek on April 30, around 50 miles southwest of Portland, while Ashley Real's remains were discovered on May 7 in a heavily wooded area in Clackamas County, south of Portland.
Each case has been described as suspicious and has prompted concerns among their loved ones and the community.
The investigation into these tragic deaths continues, as authorities urge anyone with information to come forward.
