In Florida's Marion County, a couple found themselves in serious trouble as they were arrested and charged with human trafficking.
Joselito Martinez and Tanya Wurster are accused of exploiting three women between 2019 and 2021 in various parts of Central Florida, as revealed by the Metropolitan Bureau of Investigation's press release cited by Fox 35.
Their alleged modus operandi involved bonding the women out of jail and providing them shelter.
However, instead of offering genuine help, they forced the women into engaging in commercial sex acts with customers, leading them to earn more than $300,000 from the victims over two years.
According to investigators, Martinez resorted to using narcotics, threats of violence, and degrading actions like shaving the victims' heads to control them.
Shockingly, he even forced two of the women to get tattoos, marking them as his property, further illustrating the horrific nature of the crimes.
Compounding the tragedy, the couple's shared child was also present in the home where the alleged prostitution took place.
Authorities are concerned that there may be more victims, as Martinez and Wurster appeared to be on the lookout for new targets.
Both suspects are now in custody at Orange County Jail, but investigations continue as they unravel the full extent of their alleged human trafficking activities.
