Mysterious Disappearance: Alabama Woman Vanishes Minutes After She Called 911 And Reported Sighting A Missing Child Wandering

Law enforcement authorities in Alabama are facing a perplexing case after a 25-year-old woman, Carlethia "Carlee" Nichole Russell, vanished just minutes after she made a 911 call and reported seeing a wandering toddler 

The incident unfolded on Thursday evening, leaving investigators puzzled.

According to reports, Russell called 911 at around 9:34 p.m., alerting the authorities about the child she had come across while driving along I-459 South. 

She also contacted a family member to share the same information, mentioning that she had stopped her car to check on the child. 

However, soon after, the family member lost contact with Russell, though the line remained open.

Responding officers arrived at the location of the initial 911 call she made, discovering Russell's vehicle and some of her belongings nearby. 

However, neither Russell nor the child could be found in the area. 

Russell's mother, Talitha Robinson-Russell, revealed that Russell was speaking to her sister-in-law after the 911 call when the conversation ended abruptly, with her daughter screaming.

Investigators have learned that Russell finished her shift at The Summit in Birmingham around 8:20 p.m. before heading to The Colonnade to pick up some food. 

She was then en route to her home in Hoover, Alabama, when she reportedly encountered the toddler near the interstate. 

The incident took place between the Galleria flyover and Exit 10 leading to Highway 150, around mile marker 11.

Despite an officer arriving within three minutes of Russell's 911 call, her disappearance remains a mystery. 

The car door was found open, the engine running, and Russell's phone, wig, hat, purse, Apple watch, and AirPods were discovered at the scene. 

No other reports of a missing child in the area have been received apart from Russell's call.

Authorities are urging anyone with information about Russell's whereabouts to contact Detective Brad Fountain. 

Russell is described as a 25-year-old Black woman, approximately 5 foot 4 inches tall, weighing between 150 and 160 pounds. 

She was last seen wearing a black shirt, black pants, and white Nike shoes.

In a bid to locate Russell, a reward of $25,000 has been offered, including a contribution of $20,000 from an anonymous donor and an additional $5,000 from Crimestoppers. 

Russell's parents have organized search efforts and expressed their determination to find their daughter, believing that the toddler she encountered was used as bait to lure her out of the car.

As investigators continue their efforts, they are exploring all possible theories and not ruling out any potential leads or explanations for Russell's disappearance.
