Two Lives Lost, Many Injured in Mass Shooting Incident in Baltimore, US


In the early hours of Sunday, July 2, 2023 a mass shooting in the Brooklyn neighborhood of Baltimore, Maryland, resulted in the deaths of at least two individuals, while 28 others were injured, according to police reports. 

Acting police commissioner Rich Worley provided details during a press conference, explaining that officers responded to multiple calls reporting the shooting shortly after 12:30 am Sunday (4:30 am GMT). 

Upon arrival, they discovered several victims with gunshot wounds.


The police statement confirmed the tragic loss of an 18-year-old woman and a 20-year-old male at the scene. 

The wounded individuals were transported to nearby hospitals, with three of them in critical condition. 

Worley emphasized that law enforcement is actively working to identify a suspect and determine the motive behind the shooting. 

The crime scene is extensive, and the investigation is expected to be ongoing.

Baltimore Mayor Brandon Scott expressed his condemnation of the shooting while speaking to reporters at the scene. 

He described it as an unnecessary tragedy and highlighted the urgent need to address the proliferation of illegal firearms in the community. 

Scott emphasized the city's commitment to apprehending those responsible for the senseless act, which claimed two lives and caused harm to numerous others.
