18-year-old Juan Carlos Garcia Rodriguez Charged with Capital Murder After 11-Year-Old Neighbor's Tragic Death

In a heartbreaking incident, Louisiana authorities have successfully located and apprehended a young man from Texas who stands accused of harming and fatally injuring his 11-year-old neighbor, Maria Gonzalez. 

The person in question, identified as Juan Carlos Garcia Rodriguez, 18 years old, was taken into custody by officials in Shreveport, Louisiana, following allegations of capital murder brought against him by Harris County, Texas.

The unfortunate event unfolded on August 12, when Maria was at her home without any company. 

She had sent a message to her father, Carmelo Gonzalez, that morning, conveying that someone was knocking on their apartment door. 

Carmelo had advised her not to open the door as he was heading to work. Her last response to him was that she was in her bed. 

Tragically, this was the final interaction Carmelo had with his daughter. Upon returning home later, he discovered that Maria had tragically passed away, her body concealed beneath a bed in their apartment.

Upon reaching the scene at the Main Village apartment complex on Main Street, investigators found Maria's remains stashed in a sequence of bags—first a plastic bag, followed by a laundry bag, all placed within a laundry basket hidden beneath a bed.

Grief-stricken, Carmelo expressed his sorrow stating, "Unfortunately, they left her under the bed in a plastic bag. They left my poor daughter."

The suspect was last spotted in the apartment complex on the Monday before  around 4 p.m. and had remained unseen until his eventual arrest by Louisiana police on Saturday.

A spokesperson from the Pasadena Police Department shared that they currently lack further information as of Saturday afternoon.
