A man, Jason Bell, Has Been Found Guilty of Murdering His Partner, Nicole Hurley, in Front Of Her Children in Camden
Nicole Hurley, a 37-year-old mother of four, was tragically killed by her controlling partner.
Jason Bell, 42, appeared at the Old Bailey on Tuesday, 8 August where he was convicted of the murder of his partner Nicole, false imprisonment, and dangerous driving.
He will be sentenced at the same court on Thursday, 12 October.
Detective Chief Inspector Jim Eastwood, said: “This was a brutal attack on a defenseless woman while her four children were at home, two of whom witnessed the attack. Nicole suffered severe injuries, including some to her arms that suggest she tried to protect herself from the blows Bell inflicted. He used at least two knives during this senseless assault.”
Police were called to Broxwood Way just before 00:56hrs on 10 October 2021 following an assault. Local residents raised the alarm, and they provided initial first aid to Nicole and cared for her distressed children.
Officers, London Ambulance Service, and London’s Air Ambulance responded to the call. Nicole was found at the scene with multiple stab wounds and signs of being beaten.
Despite the efforts of paramedics, she was pronounced dead at the scene.
Nicole Hurley, the victim
After killing Nicole, Bell packed a bag, including all the mobile phones at the address to prevent the victim’s children from calling for help.
He discarded the bag in a place where he could retrieve it later.
However, members of the public reported the bag to the police, and upon closer inspection, it was discovered that the bag contained a blood-stained knife.
Bell then went to the home of a longtime male friend, admitting he had stabbed Nicole. He accused his friend of having an affair with Nicole and held him at the address overnight.
Bell slept by the door to stop his friend from leaving.
In the morning, Bell, armed with a knife, forced the man to leave the address with him in his vehicle.
Fearing for his life, the friend exited the moving car while they were driving.
He sustained minor injuries, and he was later treated at the hospital.
Bell was arrested at 19:13hrs on the same day and charged on 11 October 2021 with murder, false imprisonment, dangerous driving, and driving while disqualified with no insurance.
