Courageous Defense: Indiana Woman Shoots And Kills An Assailant Who Held Her Husband at Gunpoint in Their House
An Indiana woman fatally shot a man who drove into her front yard and held her husband at gunpoint, as reported by the police.
The situation occurred last Monday around 6:30 p.m. in Salem, when Michael Chastain, aged 45, reportedly drove through the front yard of a couple's residence.
Allegedly, Chastain confronted the male homeowner upon exiting his car, forced him to the ground, and placed a gun to his head, according to WDRB.
Inside the house, the homeowner's wife witnessed the unfolding scene, retrieved her own handgun, and fired at Chastain.
Chastain was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead. Indiana State Police revealed that Chastain had previously dated the couple's daughter, although she no longer resides at the home.
The motive behind the suspect's targeting of the daughter's father remains unclear.
Law enforcement stated that Chastain had a prior criminal record and was known to them before his death. The female homeowner has not faced charges in connection with the incident, as per WLKY.
The investigation into this incident is ongoing.
