Marcus Durayalle Lofton, 35, is accused of shooting his wife, Alicia Danielle Lofton, 29, multiple times in the head and body on August 17, 2023.
The couple had been married for less than a year.
Alicia had filed for divorce on August 16, 2023, after she found out that Marcus was having an affair with another man.
According to court documents, Alicia had an active protection order against Marcus since May 2023. At the time, he was arrested for domestic violence against her.
On the day of the murder, Marcus and Alicia met at the house they shared. They argued, and Marcus allegedly grabbed Alicia's gun and tried to strike her with it.

Marcus was arrested a short time later and charged with first-degree murder and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.
He is being held without bail and is scheduled to appear in court again on September 5, 2023.
