Teen pleads guilty to manslaughter of Jamaly Samba Baibu in Islington



A 16-year-old boy, identified as B, has pleaded guilty to the manslaughter of Jamaly Samba Baibu (pictured above) in Islington. 

Jamaly was stabbed to death on December 20, 2022, on Seward Street near Old Street station. Another 16-year-old boy was also found with stab wounds but survived. 

B was arrested on December 29, 2022, at Gatwick Airport and was charged with murder and grievous bodily harm. 


He pleaded guilty to manslaughter on August 29, 2023, and was remanded in custody until his sentencing on November 17, 2023. 

Detective Chief Inspector Kate Kieran, who led the investigation, expressed her condolences to Jamaly's family and stated that the guilty plea would spare them from a painful murder trial.
